So I mixed up a day's supply last night with the materials I have already. I'm still waiting on the choline, Five Alive! and monosodium phosphate. I wanted to try out the flavor and, honestly, I was just too impatient to wait for the rest. I blended together the Serious Mass, light flavored olive oil and matcha green tea powder with a small amount of cold water in my Ninja cup. It took some time to thoroughly blend together, but in the end it came out pretty smooth. I mixed in less water initially thinking I could make a base batch and add more water at each meal to the appropriate amount of concentrated slurry. After it was all blended together I separated it into thirds (roughly) with a bit more in the breakfast cup. I stored them all overnight in the fridge and went to bed super excited to already have the whole day taken care of.
I woke up and got ready for work. It was nice not to worry about finding time to feed myself sufficiently for the day. I packed a bag with a mason jar of Soylent for lunch, a banana in case of hunger emergency and applesauce because it had already been living in my lunchbag for the past two weeks. I took my iron and calcium supplements and grabbed my breakfast cup as I headed out the door.
That first sip was strong and only mildly gritty. I had heard horror stories about the general sandiness of the finished product but this was totally tolerable. I waited through the aftertaste and decided to just chug it. As I gulped it down, I realized it wasn't as bad as that first taste seemed. The matcha flavor came through and it had a slightly vanilla aftertaste. The consistency reminded me of an almost completely melted milkshake. It was still cold and slightly thick but not heavy.
I only had about a third of a cup though, it didn't seem to fill me like I expected from various reviews. I panicked. I remembered the banana and gave in. I hate working while I'm hungry and I was almost there. Half-way through the banana it hit me, I was totally full and couldn't eat another bite. By the time I got started with work I had energy, I was full and I felt pretty great overall. About 3 hours later I started to feel hungry again. I was annoyed. Matcha was used in my mix specifically as an appetite suppressant. I kept working, helped a few customers and, when I could stand it no more, I went to the break room and drank the rest of my water. That was exactly what I needed. I came to the conclusion that I need to add more water to my routine to keep the full feeling going.
I've had nothing but (semi)Soylent, water and pickles today. No adverse effects to report and I'm not digging through the fridge. I'm pretty satisfied so far. Tomorrow, we try hot chocolate mix.
